Elegance Alpha began as a personal search. Maxime Cousseau, originally from Bordeaux, moved to Sydney in 2012. He spent thirteen years looking for a scent that captured what that transition felt like — the dryness of Australian summer, the weight of red wine country, the gap between two places that both felt like home.

He never found it. So he made it.

Fragrance 3.9 is the result. A single Eau de Parfum, aged in new French oak barrels sourced from Cognac-region cooperages. The 3.9 in the name refers to the aging time: three months and twenty-seven days in the barrel — a period we arrived at after methodical testing of what the wood actually does to a fragrance. How it deepens the base. How it rounds the pepper. How it leaves something the formula alone can't replicate.

We made one batch. Fifty bottles. If there is a second batch, it will be different — the barrels change, the seasons change, and we consider that honesty more valuable than the fiction of perfect consistency.

The philosophy is simple: one fragrance, done right, no compromise. We prefer delay over compromise.
